Boost credential security with Role-Based Access 🔐

Great news from the Certifier team: we've just launched Role-Based Access! Now, you can assign specific roles to your team members, ensuring proper access levels for effective collaboration and enhanced security.

Wondering what user roles does Certifier offer? Keep reading to find out!

How are Certifier roles structured?

In Certifier, user roles are structured as hierarchical access levels, where each subsequent role encompasses the permissions of the preceding one. This design ensures a seamless escalation of access and responsibilities, allowing for a clear and efficient delegation of tasks within the platform. As you progress from the Designer to the Admin role, each role not only retains the capabilities of the previous level but also gains additional permissions, providing broader control and functionality to effectively manage various aspects of digital credentialing.

Detailed description of Certifier user roles

The invited team members can be assigned one of the 4 available roles: Designer, Draft Credential Manager, Credential Manager, and Admin.

Designer 🎨

The Designer role is tailored for handling all design-related tasks within Certifier, providing access to essential tabs and actions:

  • Creating, updating, and deleting designs for certificates and badges.

  • Creating, updating, and deleting email templates.

  • Setting up the Issuer’s section, which is part of the Premium Branding add-on.

Designers do not have access to the Credentials, and Groups tabs and to administratively sensitive settings such as Email Sender Details, Custom Domain, Team, Subscription, and Access Tokens.

Draft Credential Manager 📄

This role should be assigned to the individuals responsible for setting up credentials before the actual issuance, ensuring that all details are accurate and ready for the final publishing stage. This role includes all the Designer’s permissions and expands to:

  • Setting up the Custom Sender Details section.

  • Creating, viewing, updating, and deleting groups.

  • Creating, viewing, updating, and deleting draft credentials only.

Draft credential managers do not have access to administratively sensitive settings such as Email Sender Details, Custom Domain, Team, Subscription, and Access Tokens.

Credential Manager 📨

The Credential Manager role should be assigned to the individuals who are responsible for the full spectrum of the credentialing process, from initial setup to the crucial step of publishing. This role includes all the functionalities of a Credential Draft Manager, with additional key permissions that enable the actual issuance of credentials. These expanded capabilities include:

  • Publishing credentials, transitioning them from draft to live status.

  • Viewing and exporting analytics.

  • Comprehensive management tools for issued credentials, including resending, updating, deleting, and exporting them.

Credential managers do not have access to administratively sensitive settings such as Email Sender Details, Custom Domain, Team, Subscription, and Access Tokens.

Admin 💼

The Admin role is the most comprehensive within Certifier, suitable for individuals who manage not only the credentialing process but also the broader administrative aspects of the platform. This role encompasses all the functionalities of a Credential Manager, with additional permissions that align closely with those of the account owner. Key capabilities of the Admin role include:

  • Setting up the Custom Sender Details section.

  • Creating, updating, and managing the Subscription (including the ability to cancel).

  • Configuring a Custom Domain.

  • Generating Access Tokens.

  • Inviting and managing Team Members.

Admins do not have access to workspace management and cannot delete the organization’s account.

Make your credentialing even more secure with Certifier

With Role-Based Access, organizations now have a powerful tool to not only streamline their credentialing processes but also significantly boost security and efficiency. By assigning specific roles to team members, you ensure that every individual has access to the tools and information necessary for their tasks, and nothing beyond. This not only minimizes the risk of unauthorized access but also simplifies the management of digital credentials.
